This post is going to be the exception to the rule as I created this blog to be a positive, relaxing space BUT I feel enough is enough and something should be said to the people who promote their products through the words, ‘This will cure Fibromyalgia.’Continue reading “Enough is Enough!”
What comes to your mind when you hear the word meditation? Is it…
or is it…
I used to think, I didn’t have time, or my mind was too busy (as I hear so often now when people start practicing meditation). I generally used to overthink it based on what others had said relating to their experience.
Meditation really doesn’t have to be so difficult as so many are beginning to realise as its popularity grows. Below are just 15 of, I am sure oodles, of health benefits of meditation and you will see why meditation is a must.
As you start to practice meditation you will become more conscious of your thoughts. Don’t beat yourself up or be harsh with yourself, when you find your mind wandering just bring it back calmly and allow the thought to pass. When we begin to struggle with our thought’s we are defeating the object of meditation and more than likely causing ourselves even more stress. Like anything in our lives, it takes time and practice.
No equipment is necessary for successful meditation and yippee no expensive memberships. You can meditate at home while sitting on the floor, couch or bed. Perhaps outside sitting under a tree or sitting on the beach (it’s a bit nippy now if you’re in England so wait until the weather gets a little warmer). Wherever you can find a calm, quiet place, you can meditate.
Meditation is actually a state of consciousness. When meditating we access the Alpha brainwave state of mind, which is where we find relaxation and creativity. Focusing on inner peace, tranquillity, serenity and gaining peace of mind, in turn leads to lower stress levels and we all know what stress can do with fibro symptoms.
I found that when I started to meditate guided meditation was the best answer for me. The only mistake I did make, was to meditate last thing at night before I fell asleep. I would wake up at stupid o’clock still plugged into my headphones, and the meditation long since finished.
If you are looking for a guided meditation a great App to use is https://calm.com with over 100 short guided meditations, it’s definitely worth checking out.

I apologise for the lack of posts over the last few days, it was the last week before my sons returned to school, so I spent lots of time with them.
I was beginning to think my house would never hear the sound of silence again as they charged up and down the stairs, bickering and all the other things teenage boys do…they’re on another planet I tell you!Continue reading “Shhhhh listen…silence!”
Lose hope in 2019!
Does that sound negative to you?
Well if it does, I was right there with you. I thought my coach had totally lost the plot when she told me to give up hope…Continue reading “Stop! Wait! What Did She Say…Give Up Hope in 2019?”
There have been many times since my diagnosis that people have asked me, ‘What is fibromyalgia?’ To be honest, I had never heard of it before my doctor suggested that I might be living with this syndrome.Continue reading “What is Fibromyalgia?”
Lavender is one of my favourites (it’s the bee’s favourite too). Anything containing Lavender is great with me. My front garden is full of lavender and my back garden is following suit. Lavender not only has a beautiful, relaxing aroma, it also has multiple health benefits such as:Continue reading “Loving Lavender”
Life is usually so busy, I find that I need time to completely relax (that’s generally not at home, can you imagine the noise level of 5 boys in the house). I love to immerse myself in nature.Continue reading “‘Just Be’”
