Healthy Benefits of Meditation

I used to think, I didn’t have time, or my mind was too busy (as I hear so often now when people start practicing meditation).  I generally used to overthink it based on what others had said relating to their experience.

Meditation really doesn’t have to be so difficult as so many are beginning to realise as its popularity grows.  Below are just 15 of, I am sure oodles, of health benefits of meditation and you will see why meditation is a must.

As you start to practice meditation you will become more conscious of your thoughts.  Don’t beat yourself up or be harsh with yourself, when you find your mind wandering just bring it back calmly and allow the thought to pass.  When we begin to struggle with our thought’s we are defeating the object of meditation and more than likely causing ourselves even more stress. Like anything in our lives, it takes time and practice.

No equipment is necessary for successful meditation and yippee no expensive memberships. You can meditate at home while sitting on the floor, couch or bed. Perhaps outside sitting under a tree or sitting on the beach (it’s a bit nippy now if you’re in England so wait until the weather gets a little warmer). Wherever you can find a calm, quiet place, you can meditate. 

Meditation is actually a state of consciousness.  When meditating we access the Alpha brainwave state of mind, which is where we find relaxation and creativity.  Focusing on inner peace, tranquillity, serenity and gaining peace of mind, in turn leads to lower stress levels and we all know what stress can do with fibro symptoms.

I found that when I started to meditate guided meditation was the best answer for me. The only mistake I did make, was to meditate last thing at night before I fell asleep.  I would wake up at stupid o’clock still plugged into my headphones, and the meditation long since finished.
